The Prague High Court has upheld the conviction of MEP Jana Nagyová in the Čapí hnízdo subsidy fraud case. The court confirmed a three-year suspended prison sentence with a five-year probation period, along with a fine of 500,000 CZK. The ruling establishes that Nagyová was involved in a scheme to illegitimately secure a 50 million CZK subsidy intended for small and medium-sized enterprises by presenting the Čapí hnízdo farm as an independent entity, separate from the Agrofert conglomerate.

Nagyová, a former advisor to Andrej Babiš, has maintained her innocence and intends to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court. Babiš, who was also an accused party in the case, remains protected by parliamentary immunity, which prevents his criminal proceedings from moving forward. He has characterized the entire legal process as a political attempt to damage his reputation.

The case involves allegations that the Čapí hnízdo complex was intentionally spun off from Agrofert to meet eligibility requirements for European Union grants.
