Jana Sena MP Lingamaneni Ramesh urges two new AIIMS in Andhra Pradesh

Jana Sena Party MP Lingamaneni Ramesh wrote to Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda requesting the establishment of two All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS)-level hospitals in Andhra Pradesh – one in the Rayalaseema region and another in North Coastal Andhra (Uttarandhra). He also asked for the expansion of AIIMS Mangalagiri with additional super‑specialty departments and research centres.

Ramesh argued that a single AIIMS cannot serve the state’s nearly five‑crore population spread across Coastal Andhra, Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra. Patients from Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra travel hundreds of kilometres for advanced care, affecting outcomes in emergencies such as cardiac events, trauma, stroke and oncology. He said new AIIMS would improve timely access to life‑saving treatment and address regional healthcare disparities.
