Jandaia do Sul police arrest thieves after getaway car rollover
Three men were arrested in Jandaia do Sul, Brazil, following the theft of cables from a Sanepar substation in a rural area. The arrest occurred under unusual circumstances when two of the suspects rolled their getaway vehicle, an Audi, and subsequently requested assistance from the very police officers who were responding to the theft report.
Officers patrolling the Marumbizinho road encountered the two men, aged 23 and 28, emerging from a wooded area. Although the suspects claimed they had been involved in a car accident and needed rescue, police grew suspicious due to the proximity to the crime scene. Security footage from the substation later confirmed their involvement in the robbery.
During the investigation, a third suspect, a 20-year-old man, was apprehended in central Jandaia do Sul after being identified via surveillance cameras. The group reportedly used a Celta to transport tools and approximately 20 meters of stolen cable. Police are continuing searches to locate two additional accomplices and recover the stolen materials.
