Jandira flash flood: One dead, one man still missing in São Paulo

A search operation in the Greater São Paulo region has resulted in the discovery of a 32-year-old man's body in Barueri. The victim had been missing since Saturday morning after being swept away by a flash flood in Jandira.

The incident occurred around 1:00 AM on Saturday near Avenida Antônio Bardella in Jardim São Luiz. According to reports, the man was in a flooded area when a 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman attempted to assist him. All three were subsequently swept away by the current. The woman managed to survive by clinging to trees along the riverbank.

Firefighters and Civil Defense teams located the body in the Iracema neighborhood of Barueri on Sunday. While one victim has been recovered, authorities are continuing search efforts to locate the second man, aged 33, who remains missing. The heavy rains caused widespread disruption across the metropolitan area, prompting the São Paulo government to activate a crisis cabinet and deploy humanitarian aid to affected municipalities.
