Jane Schoenbrun releases psychological horror film ‘Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma’

Director Jane Schoenbrun has released their third feature film, ‘Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma,’ a psychological horror film that utilizes the slasher genre to explore themes of identity, longing, and queer experience. The film stars Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson, following a narrative where a director encounters a reclusive original star amidst a surreal descent into horror.

The film serves as a satire of Hollywood’s tendency to resurrect dormant intellectual property for commercial gain. It centers on the ‘Camp Miasma’ franchise, a series inspired by films like ‘Friday the 13th,’ featuring a killer known as ‘Little Death.’

A soundtrack for the film, scored by indie rock artist Alex G, has been issued by Waxwork Records in collaboration with MUBI and Plan B Entertainment. The score includes original ambient cues, a collaboration with Paul Buchanan, and licensed tracks from artists such as R.E.M. and Counting Crows.
