Vince McMahon and WWE Move Janel Grant Lawsuit to Private Arbitration

Former WWE chairman Vince McMahon and the company have agreed to resolve the lawsuit filed by former employee Janel Grant through private arbitration. Grant’s complaint, filed in January 2024, accused McMahon, WWE and former executive John Laurinaitis of sexual trafficking and abuse. A Connecticut judge approved the parties’ move to arbitration on July 13 2026, and the parties filed a joint status report stating that the case will be voluntarily dismissed with prejudice within five business days, while preserving each side’s right to pursue the dispute in arbitration.

The arbitration request was driven by a clause in a 2022 nondisclosure agreement that McMahon’s side cited, which Grant had previously argued was signed under duress. The lawsuit prompted McMahon’s resignation as TKO executive chairman and his reduced public presence. The transition to arbitration ends the public court phase of the case but does not preclude further private arbitration proceedings.
