Janelle Monáe hosts Wondaween Creature Carnival at Santa Monica Pier

Janelle Monáe partnered with Bacardi Rum to host the Wondaween Festival: Creature Carnival at the Santa Monica Pier on October 29. For the event, Monáe performed in a dramatic costume as “The Amazing Fish Boy,” featuring a peach-pink shag wig, green-tinged facial prosthetics, and prosthetic hands.

Bacardi returned for its second year as the official spirits partner, debuting the “Spookito,” a grenadine-infused twist on a classic mojito. Other themed cocktails included the Creature of the Night Lemonade and the Pina-Ghoul-Ada Spritz. The festival featured musical sets from Shaun Ross, DJ Millie, and Nana Kwabena, alongside access to pier rides and carnival food.
