Janet Jackson to film concert movie celebrating ‘Control’ anniversary

Janet Jackson is set to film and release a concert movie titled ‘Janet Jackson: Control 40 — The Airtab Music Movie’ to commemorate the 40th anniversary of her landmark album, Control. The filming is scheduled for December 12 at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida.

The production will feature behind-the-scenes footage and is intended to serve as a definitive document of the performer. While centered on the 1986 album, the concert will span Jackson’s entire musical catalog. The film is planned for a global theatrical release followed by a streaming release.

Released in 1986, Control was Jackson’s third album and a pivotal moment in her career. Produced with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, the album blended R&B, rap, funk, disco, and electronic elements. It produced five top-10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, making Jackson the first female artist to achieve that feat from a single album, and has sold over 10 million copies worldwide.
