Janez Janša marks Primorska anniversary and meets EU Parliament President

Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša has addressed two distinct matters involving national identity and European politics. In a message marking the anniversary of the Primorska region's return to the Slovenian motherland, Janša emphasized that the region has always been Slovenian despite historical attempts to suppress the language and culture. He noted that the 1947 Paris Peace Treaty facilitated the return of much of this territory to Slovenia.

Separately, Janša met with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola in Brussels. The two leaders discussed the necessity of a strong, resilient, and competitive European Union capable of responding to internal and external challenges. Key strategic priorities mentioned included security, resilience, demographic vitality, and credibility. Both leaders highlighted the importance of reducing bureaucracy and increasing predictability for the European economy and industry to maintain global influence.
