Jang Dong-hyuk drives People Power Party reform and urges presidential veto on investigation law

People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk is preparing a party‑wide reform plan that emphasizes a "member‑centered" party. The proposal, expected to be disclosed around Korea’s Liberation Day, would expand party members’ influence in evaluating elected officials and in setting candidacy criteria, such as prioritising "well‑fighting" candidates. Party officials say a working group will finalize amendments to the party charter and bylaws by November.

At the same time, Jang led a protest outside the Blue House demanding that the South Korean president exercise the constitutional veto (re‑examination right) on a criminal‑procedure bill that would abolish the supplementary investigation right. He warned that refusing the veto could trigger larger public calls for impeachment and damage the rule of law. The bill is slated for a cabinet meeting on 4 May.
