Jang Dong-hyuk mobilises South Korean youth over election commission reforms

People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyuk has been touring South Korean cities, including Gwangju, Incheon, Busan, Daegu and Gyeonggi, to rally young voters. At rallies he urged the dismantling of the National Election Commission and called for a new election, denouncing alleged vote fraud and urging protection of voting rights. Polls commissioned by the party show its support among 20‑ and 30‑year‑olds climbing to roughly 46‑52 %, outpacing the Democratic Party’s 27‑30 % in the same age groups.

In a separate appearance Jang criticised President Lee Jae‑myung for what he described as improper interference in party affairs, accusing the president of double standards and urging him to stop meddling in internal matters. The party’s spokesperson echoed the charge, calling the president’s comments on candidate‑deposit issues a direct party‑intervention.

Jang’s combined youth outreach and sharp criticism of the president signal an intensified political push ahead of upcoming elections.
