Jang Min-ho sets Asian record in 100m at Asian Para Games

South Korean sprinter Jang Min-ho won the gold medal in the men’s 100m (T13) at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Para Games, setting a new Asian record with a time of 10.48 seconds. Competing at the Mizuho Park Athletics Stadium in Nagoya, Japan, Jang overcame a -0.1 m/s headwind to finish ahead of Japanese competitors Fukunaga and Kawakami.

Jang, who represents Anyang City Hall, made history as the first South Korean athlete to compete in both the Asian Games and the Asian Para Games in the same season. Despite suffering from retinitis pigmentosa, which has left him with only 30% vision, he has successfully balanced roles as a visually impaired sprinter and a non-disabled athlete in the 1600m relay.

Coaches from Anyang City Hall praised Jang’s dedication, noting that his achievement is particularly remarkable as he had been focusing on 400m training to secure a spot on the national team. Jang expressed his ambition to pursue two gold medals at the 2028 LA Paralympics and to set a world record.
