Jang Seo-hee finds success with new role in KBS2 drama ‘Desire’s Trap’

Actress Jang Seo-hee is seeing a resurgence in popularity with her role in the KBS2 daily drama ‘Desire’s Trap’. Moving away from her traditional roles as a victim seeking revenge, she now portrays Ju Mi-ran, a manipulative antagonist who uses gaslighting to control the Cheongma Group family.

The drama has shown steady growth in viewership, recently reaching a peak of 8% for its 26th episode. This upward trend is notable compared to the previous series, ‘Red Pearl’, which peaked at 8.2% much later in its run. Despite a brief hiatus due to sports broadcasting, the series is expected to continue its momentum following its resumption on October 5.

Reflecting on her career, Jang also shared anecdotes regarding her iconic role in the 2008 hit ‘Temptation of Wife’. She noted that the famous beauty mark used to signify her character's transformation was subject to intense scrutiny by viewers, who frequently pointed out inconsistencies in its size and placement. This led the makeup team to maintain photographic records to ensure continuity.
