Jangseong, South Korea plastic plant fire destroys three buildings, no injuries

A fire broke out at a plastic manufacturing plant in Jangseong County, Gwangju, South Korea around 20:55 on 25 May. The blaze rapidly engulfed all three sections of the plant, prompting the fire department to activate a Level‑1 response. Approximately 128 firefighters and 55 fire‑fighting units worked through the night, and the fire was fully extinguished at about 02:19 on 26 May.

All four foreign workers—identified as Thai nationals—who were staying in a container dormitory on the site were rescued unharmed, and no injuries were reported. The incident caused complete loss of the three building sections, but no casualties. Authorities are investigating the cause, which remains unknown, and are assessing the total damage.

Officials highlighted the need for stricter control of combustible materials and regular inspection of electrical and heating equipment in such facilities to prevent similar incidents.
