Janhvi Kapoor condemns misuse of AI deepfakes
Indian actress Janhvi Kapoor has spoken out against the rise of non-consensual AI-generated content, describing the criminal misuse of technology to objectify women as a violation of dignity that borders on sexual assault. Kapoor emphasized that such digital manipulation attacks an individual’s autonomy and called for a broader societal reflection on the entitlement that allows women’s boundaries to be treated as public negotiation.
Following the circulation of a morphed video involving Kapoor, actor Jr NTR condemned the incident as “disgusting, sick and shameless,” vowing to pursue legal action against those responsible for creating and spreading the content.
In response to the controversy, actor Aamir Khan addressed the dual nature of artificial intelligence in cinema. He noted that while AI serves as a powerful tool that allows filmmakers to realize complex visions, its impact depends entirely on how it is utilized. Khan stated that technology itself has no life and that the responsibility lies with creators to use it effectively rather than for harmful purposes.
