Janice Tjen to miss 2026 Asian Games due to WTA conflict

Indonesian tennis player Janice Tjen has confirmed she will be unable to represent Indonesia at the 2026 Asian Games. The decision stems from a scheduling conflict with the mandatory WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing.

Tjen stated via social media that she requested an exception from the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) to participate in the Asian Games, but the request was denied. She described the decision as difficult, noting that representing Indonesia on the international stage is a source of great pride for her.

The 24-year-old athlete, who has previously won medals at the Asian Games and SEA Games and helped Indonesia achieve promotion in the Billie Jean King Cup, expressed her commitment to continuing her efforts to bring honor to Indonesia through the WTA Tour.
