Janine Sonis leads Denver Summit FC in NWSL expansion season

Janine Sonis is playing a pivotal role in the inaugural NWSL season for the expansion Denver Summit FC. The Canadian national team player has recorded 12 goals and six assists, contributing significantly to the team's recent successes, including a 3-0 victory over the Chicago Stars and a 3-1 win against the Orlando Pride.

In the match against the Chicago Stars, Sonis's performance was bolstered by teammate and fellow Canadian Emma Regan, who provided an assist for a goal. The Denver Summit is currently positioned in the middle of a playoff push, sitting five points away from a postseason spot.

Off the field, the club has seen significant growth in Colorado, including selling out Mile High Stadium and breaking ground on a permanent soccer-specific stadium at Santa Fe Yards.
