Janja da Silva assists Lula during supporter embrace in Ceará

During a campaign event in Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará, First Lady Janja da Silva intervened when a supporter gave President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva an intense embrace. As the president leaned over the side of a vehicle to greet supporters, a woman wrapped her arms around his neck and shoulders. Janja was seen pulling the president to help him break the contact and regain his balance.

The incident occurred at the conclusion of a march that included Ceará Governor Elmano de Freitas. Before the rally, Lula visited the neighboring municipality of Crato to inspect water infrastructure projects. The campaign event, which drew thousands of people, focused on supporting local candidates for the Senate and the governorship.
