Jannik Sinner changes medical team amid knee injury recovery
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner has overhauled his medical support team as he continues to recover from a right knee injury caused by iliotibial band inflammation. After concluding his 2026 season early following his Wimbledon victory, Sinner has moved away from J Medical to work with orthopedic specialist Herbert Schoenhuber, under the supervision of Dr. Alberto Zangrillo from the San Raffaele clinical system.
Sinner is currently focusing on rest, physiotherapy, and muscle strengthening in Monte Carlo. While a definitive return date has not been set, the primary goal is to resume consistent training without pain, with the Australian Open in January serving as a major target. There are also discussions regarding his coaching staff; while Darren Cahill was previously expected to depart at the end of the year, reports suggest his collaboration with Sinner may be extended through the 2027 Roland Garros.
In the ATP rankings, Sinner maintains his top position for the 95th week, though Alexander Zverev remains a close challenger for the leadership role. Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev recently secured his 25th career title at the ATP 250 in Almaty, strengthening his position in the race for the ATP Finals.
