Jannik Sinner Defends Wimbledon Crown, Beats Alexander Zverev in Four‑Set Final
Italian world No. 1 Jannik Sinner successfully defended his Wimbledon title on 12 July 2026, defeating Germany’s Alexander Zverev 6‑7(5), 7‑6(4), 6‑3, 6‑4. The victory marked Sinner’s second consecutive Wimbledon triumph, his fifth Grand Slam title and his sixth overall major win, placing him among a select group of players who have won back‑to‑back Wimbledon championships in the Open Era.
During the trophy ceremony Princess Kate presented the Gentlemen’s Singles Trophy, after which Sinner met Prince William, Princess Kate and the young royals, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. In his post‑match speech he thanked the ball kids, tournament staff and the Royal Family, and praised Zverev’s performance, saying the German “is very close to becoming number 1.”
The win also extended Sinner’s lead at the top of the ATP rankings, giving him 13 450 points and a record‑tying number of weeks as world No. 1. His model girlfriend Laila Hasanović was seen supporting him on Centre Court. The champion now eyes a historic attempt to win all nine Masters 1000 events in a single season.
