Jannik Sinner defeats Jan‑Lennard Struff to reach Wimbledon semifinal

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner advanced to the Wimbledon 2026 semifinals by beating Germany’s Jan‑Lennard Struff in the quarter‑finals. Sinner won in straight sets, 7‑5, 7‑6 (7‑4), 6‑3, after a match that lasted about two and a half hours. Earlier in the tournament Sinner had secured his quarter‑final place by defeating Japanese qualifier Shintaro Mochizuki 6‑3, 7‑6 (0), 6‑3. Struff, 36, became the oldest player in the Open Era to reach a Wimbledon quarter‑final. After his opponent Hubert Hurkacz retired with a back injury in the fourth round, Struff said, “It’s unbelievable, this is just great.”

Sinner praised his opponent, saying, “Struff is a very aggressive player and a great server, I respect him a lot,” and added, “It was a very long day – I tried to play the important points better.” With the win, Sinner will meet either Novak Djokovic or Felix Auger‑Aliassime in the semi‑finals.
