Janusz Kubicki receives PiS and Konfederacja support for Senate by-elections

Political parties PiS and Konfederacja have announced they will not field their own candidates in the upcoming Senate by-elections in district 20, but will instead support Janusz Kubicki, the former president of Zielona Góra. Kubicki is running on a PiS list despite declaring his independence.

The by-elections, scheduled for November 22, follow the death of Senator Mirosław Różański. The election covers the counties of Krosno, Świebodzin, Zielona Góra, and the city of Zielona Góra.

Opposition groups have criticized the ruling coalition's selection of Zdzisława Różańska, the widow of the late senator, as a candidate. Konfederacja representatives expressed dissatisfaction with the current local administration, citing issues such as city debt and the closure of maternity wards, stating that supporting Kubicki is a necessary move to break the political monopoly of the Platforma party.
