Japan Airlines celebrates 70th anniversary of Tokyo-Bangkok route

Japan Airlines (JAL) celebrated the 70th anniversary of its Tokyo-Bangkok route with commemorative ceremonies held in Bangkok and at Haneda Airport. The route originally commenced on October 4, 1956, using Douglas DC-6B aircraft with two weekly flights via Hong Kong.

JAL executives noted that the Bangkok route remains a critical pillar for the airline, serving as its most utilized route in Southeast Asia. In 2025, the route saw approximately 600,000 passengers. The airline currently operates 21 round trips per week between Tokyo (Haneda and Narita) and Bangkok.

To mark the milestone, JAL held events featuring traditional Thai dance and displays of historical artifacts, including original in-flight menus, timetables, and uniforms. The airline expressed its commitment to strengthening ties between Japan and Thailand, particularly as the two nations approach the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2027.
