Japan Airlines renovates Haneda Airport domestic lounges
Japan Airlines (JAL) is set to reopen its renovated domestic lounges at Haneda Airport Terminal 1 North Wing on October 8. The update includes the rebranding of the Diamond Premier Lounge to the ‘JAL First Class Lounge’ and the reopening of the Sakura Lounge.
The First Class Lounge features an expanded seating capacity, approximately 1.4 times larger than before, with specialized areas for dining, relaxing, and working. The dining menu will vary by time of day, offering items such as specialty curry bread and afternoon tea. The working area will include private and semi-private booths to accommodate business travelers.
The Sakura Lounge focuses on functional beauty and includes a new kids' area supervised by BorneLund. It also introduces ‘drinking dashi’ to its dining options. Both lounges will feature art spaces, including an ‘ART CANVAS’ area showcasing works from artists contracted by Heralboni, and will utilize upcycled materials from aircraft parts in their decor.
To improve efficiency, JAL is introducing smart security lanes that allow passengers to pass through without removing laptops or liquids. Additionally, a new shower reservation system via smartphone and QR code entry will be implemented. Following the North Wing completion, renovations for the South Wing lounges are scheduled to begin on October 8, with a planned reopening in mid-2027.
