Japan Airlines updates mileage rewards and loyalty program status
Japan Airlines (JAL) is introducing several updates to its mileage and loyalty programs. Starting September 29, 2026, JAL will offer a service allowing JAL Mileage Bank (JMB) members to exchange miles for 2026 MLB postseason tickets. As an official sponsor of Major League Baseball, JAL will provide 210 tickets for various games, including the League Championship Series and the World Series. Redemption rates are set at 30,000 miles for the American League Championship Series, 35,000 miles for the National League Championship Series, and 80,000 miles for World Series games.
Separately, JAL announced significant changes to its FLY ON program status requirements and services, effective for flights from January 1, 2027. The ‘JGC Premier’ tier will be renamed ‘JMB Premier,’ and the requirement to join the JAL Global Club (JGC) to achieve this status will be removed, making it attainable through flight performance alone. New criteria include achieving 80,000 FLY ON points or a specific combination of flight counts and points within a calendar year. While core premium services like lounge access and priority boarding remain, JAL will introduce new bonus mile structures and adjust standby priority rankings for top-tier members.
