Japan and Netherlands draw 2‑2 in World Cup group match
Japan and the Netherlands finished level at 2‑2 in their Group F opener of the 2026 World Cup in Dallas, United States. All four goals came in the second half: Virgil Van Dijk gave the Dutch the lead from a Ryan Gravenberch corner, Takefusa Kubo (credited to Keito Nakamura) equalised for Japan, Crysencio Summerville restored the Netherlands’ advantage, and Daichi Kamada (credited to Koki Ogawa) secured the draw for Japan.
Both sides earned one point and remain tied atop the group, which also includes Sweden and Tunisia. The Netherlands will face Sweden in Houston, while Japan travels to Mexico to meet Tunisia in the next round.
