Japan announces 2026 autumn honors for residents of Kyoto and Shiga

The Japanese government has announced the recipients of the 2026 autumn honors, recognizing individuals for their significant contributions to various fields.

In Kyoto Prefecture, 19 individuals and one organization were selected for their achievements. In Shiga Prefecture, 11 residents received honors, including one Medallic Order of the Green Ribbon, four Medallic Order of the Yellow Ribbon, and six Medallic Order of the Blue Ribbon.

Among the notable recipients is former Governor Shingo Mimura, who was awarded the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun. Mimura, who served five terms as governor, was recognized for his efforts in stabilizing the prefecture's finances during difficult economic periods.
