Japan announces U-17 women's World Cup squad
The Japan Football Association has announced the 21-member squad for the U-17 Japan women's national football team, known as the ‘Little Nadeshiko,’ ahead of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco.
Head coach Sadayoshi Shirai expressed his goal of winning the tournament, noting that the team has worked to improve their tactical approach following a runner-up finish at the AFC U-17 Women's Asian Cup. The squad includes several players already active in the WE League, such as Alice Ota, Lara Higuchi, and Runa Kadoya.
Japan is placed in Group D and is scheduled to face Zambia on October 18, France on October 21, and Venezuela on October 25.
