Japan art exhibitions feature diverse collections and retrospectives

Various art exhibitions are currently being held across Japan, showcasing a wide range of historical and contemporary works. In major museums, collections include Ukiyo-e prints by Kunisada and Kuniyoshi at the Kawasaki Ukiyo-e Gallery, and a significant exhibition of tea bowls at the Mitsui Memorial Museum featuring National Treasures. The Chiba City Museum is hosting a special exhibition themed around the moon and stars, while the Yokohama Museum of Art explores the style of Marie Antoinette.

In Akita Prefecture, several local exhibitions are underway. The Akita Prefectural Museum is hosting a retrospective for Shigehiro Shibuya, the former museum director, featuring 68 oil paintings. Additionally, a group exhibition titled ‘made in Yuwa’ is showcasing the works of five artists based in Yuwa, including paintings, ceramics, and collage.
