Japan battery storage market sees focus on low-voltage and grid-scale business models

Industry seminars and webinars are being organized to address the rapidly expanding battery storage market in Japan, focusing on both low-voltage and grid-scale systems.

One event, hosted by DMM.com, will take place in Tokyo on November 10, 2026. It aims to provide EPC operators and investors with insights into low-voltage battery business models, addressing challenges such as aggregator shortages and regulatory changes in capacity and supply-demand adjustment markets. Featured participants include Huawei, presenting its LUNA2000 industrial battery solution, and Tensor Energy.

Separately, Japan Branding Co., Ltd., the Japanese general agent for GUS Technology, will hold an online webinar in mid-September 2026. This session will focus on grid-scale battery storage, which has seen a massive surge in connection requests—increasing approximately 40-fold in three years. The webinar will cover the technical and practical aspects of entering the market, including land acquisition, grid connection processes, and the impact of the 2022 Electricity Business Act amendments.
