Japan Bonsai Sakufuten exhibition to be held in Ueno

The Japan Bonsai Association will host the 52nd Japan Bonsai Sakufuten from October 10 to 12, 2026, at the Ueno Green Club in Tokyo. This annual exhibition features professional bonsai artists from across Japan showcasing their finest works completed over the past year.

The event is free to the public and includes prestigious awards such as the Prime Minister's Award, the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award, and the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Award.

A special private viewing event, ‘SAKUFU-TEN PRIVATE VIEWING 2026’, will be held on the evening of October 10. This reservation-only tour offers participants the opportunity to hear award-winning artists explain their techniques and philosophies. The tour will be available in both Japanese and English, with the latter including an interpreter.
