Japan business plan contests boost youth and women entrepreneurship

The Fukuoka Junior Chamber hosted a pitch‑contest on 9 August that paired start‑ups with traditional firms such as Chikuzen Weaving. Participants included Local Bridge CEO Takumi Takimoto, and the event offered a ¥500,000 prize and a talk by Real Value Club CEO Yuji Mizoguchi on overcoming regulatory hurdles.

In Miyazaki, the prefectural industry agency held its second annual business‑plan competition aimed at women and younger entrepreneurs. Ten finalists presented ideas ranging from on‑site relaxation services for stressed workers to revitalising vacant houses through tourism. The grand‑prize was awarded to a proposal featuring regional cuisine burgers, with judges from the Kyushu industrial bureau and local authorities.

Both contests seek to stimulate regional economies by encouraging innovative ideas and supporting underserved demographic groups.
