Japan hosts diverse autumn festivals and seasonal events

Various regional autumn festivals and seasonal events are taking place across Japan. In Nagasaki City, performers for the Nagasaki Kunchi festival held rehearsals known as ‘Niizoroi’ to showcase their progress ahead of the main event scheduled for November 7–9. Participants in the Uemachi district performed the ‘Kokko Desho’ dance, featuring high-flying floats.

In Chiba Prefecture, Narita Airport hosted the ‘Sky Day Festival 2026,’ where approximately 180 children and parents participated in a tug-of-war against a 133-ton ‘Pokemon Jet.’ Meanwhile, in Ehime Prefecture, unique bicycle races were held within the moats of Imabari Castle.

Other seasonal activities include the autumn festival at Musashino Shrine in Kodaira City, featuring traditional dances such as the ‘Tokyo Musashi Ondo,’ and the changing colors of Kochia plants at Takino Suzuran Kyuryo Park in Sapporo, Hokkaido.
