Japan celebrates seasonal autumn flavors with chestnuts, sweet potatoes, and persimmons

Autumn seasonal delicacies are taking center stage across various regions in Japan. In Miyazaki Prefecture, Misato Town is highlighting its highly regarded chestnuts, which are noted by international pastry chefs for their rich aroma and deep flavor. Local specialty shop Mizuhoya offers various chestnut-based sweets, including marron pies and seven-layer mont blancs.

Miyazaki City's Tano Town is also seeing success with aged sweet potatoes from the SAZANKA group. The group hosts popular direct sales events to provide high-sugar content sweet potatoes to locals at affordable prices, having sold approximately two tons of sweet potatoes during a single event.

In Yamanashi Prefecture, JA Town has begun reservation sales for Fuyu persimmons. These fruits are characterized by their crisp texture and intense sweetness. As part of the ‘Kokusho Kokusan’ campaign to promote domestic agricultural products, JA Group is offering free shipping on various Yamanashi products, including persimmons, kiwi fruit, and peach juice, through the end of November.
