Japan Coast Guard issues typhoon warnings for Izu Peninsula ports
The Japan Coast Guard has issued a second-level alert and evacuation advisory for various ports in the Izu Peninsula and Izu Islands, including Shimoda Port, due to an approaching typhoon.
As of August 11, 2026, vessels are instructed to complete storm preparations and maintain strict vigilance. Ships with a gross tonnage of 1,000 tons or more are generally required to evacuate outside the offshore breakwaters. Vessels unable to evacuate due to engine failure or smaller vessels are advised to seek safe locations within the ports and strengthen moorings. Additionally, measures must be taken to prevent the outflow of construction equipment and materials.
