Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association announces 2026 award winners

The Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association has announced the winners of the 2026 Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association Awards.

Fuji Television received the Excellence Award in the Technical Category for its development of an all-cloud production and virtual data optimization system for the Milano Olympics. This technology addresses rising costs in international sports broadcasting by utilizing cloud-based production, reducing expenses related to international lines, local equipment setup, and gear transportation while maintaining high production quality.

In the Program Category, Nagoya Television (Me-Tele) won the Excellence Award for its educational documentary, ‘Rehabilitation or Atonement: Confused Prison Officers – The Current State of Reform’. The program explores the implementation of new rehabilitation programs and the ‘custodial sentence’ system at Nagoya Prison, documenting the challenges and internal conflicts faced by prison officers during these institutional reforms.
