Japan construction management job market analysis reveals salary and benefit trends

An analysis of 5,993 construction management job listings conducted by the Jobree Construction Editorial Department reveals significant trends in salary, qualifications, and working conditions across Japan.

In the Kansai region, the median starting annual salary is 4.5 million yen, consistent with national levels. However, the region shows a higher proportion of jobs offering 5 million yen or more and a higher rate of full five-day work weeks compared to other areas. Osaka holds the highest volume of listings in the region.

Nationwide, qualifications play a critical role in earning potential. Jobs requiring a 1st Class Construction Management Engineer certification offer significantly higher salaries, with 45.6% of high-paying roles (those with an upper limit of 8 million yen or more) requiring this credential. Conversely, roles for inexperienced workers have a median starting salary of 4 million yen, which is 500,000 yen lower than roles requiring experience but no specific certification.

Working conditions also vary by company scale. Large-scale national companies offer better benefits, with 86% providing 120 or more annual holidays, compared to only 56.8% of smaller firms. High-paying roles also tend to offer better holiday conditions, such as a 75.5% rate of full five-day work weeks.
