Japan Cybercrime Control Center to host 4th phishing site eradication challenge

The Japan Cybercrime Control Center (JC3) will host the 4th Phishing Site Eradication Challenge Cup from November 4 to November 13. The competition encourages cybercrime prevention volunteers and member companies to compete in the number of abuse reports filed and successful takedowns of phishing websites.

Participants will utilize ‘Predator’, a specialized takedown support tool provided by JC3 to volunteers working in coordination with prefectural police. The initiative aims to combat phishing threats by identifying and neutralizing fraudulent sites rapidly.

During the third tournament, participants filed 16,234 abuse reports, an increase of 4,162 from the previous event, resulting in 2,828 successful takedowns. Results for the upcoming fourth challenge will be announced in December, with top performers to be recognized in February 2027.
