Japan DX initiatives focus on innovation awards and local government efficiency

Digital transformation (DX) initiatives in Japan are being highlighted through various awards and technological solutions aimed at both the private and public sectors.

The Japan Omni-Channel Association is currently accepting applications for the ‘DX Innovation Award 2026’. The award encourages companies to reflect on their digital challenges, successes, and collaborative processes, turning internal achievements into shared social value. The award ceremony is scheduled to take place during the ‘Omni-Channel Day’ conference in February 2027.

In the public sector, the ‘Japan DX Award 2026 Summit & Award’ recently addressed the challenges faced by local governments. During a session by Claris International Inc., discussions focused on the gaps left by the standardization of core administrative systems. While major systems are being unified, many niche tasks still rely on inefficient manual processes like spreadsheets. To overcome barriers such as high costs, long development times, and network compatibility requirements (like LGWAN), the use of low-code development tools like Claris FileMaker is being promoted to allow staff to build customized applications quickly.
