Japan elderly housing: Challenges in transitioning to assisted living

As Japan's population ages, families face increasing challenges regarding elderly housing and the psychological transition from long-term family homes to assisted living facilities.

To address the tension between wanting to stay in a familiar environment and the need for security, some individuals are exploring a “third option”: reframing the home itself as a private nursing facility. This approach aims to provide the peace of mind typically sought in professional institutions while allowing seniors to remain in their preferred living spaces.
