Japan expands AI-driven custom 3D-printed figurine services

Companies in Japan are expanding personalized 3D-printed figurine services using AI technology to convert single photographs into physical models.

DMM.com has announced that its “Chokonto Figure” service, which creates custom pet figurines from a single photo, has surpassed 10,000 units produced. To mark this milestone, the company is introducing new product variations, including full-color magnets and upper-body figurines. The service utilizes AI to generate 3D data from uploaded images, allowing for delivery in as little as two weeks at a relatively low price point.

Separately, Image Magic Inc. is launching a new “Deformed Figure” product through its 3DME service. Starting September 1, 2026, customers can upload a full-body photo to create palm-sized, stylized human figurines. The service offers various customization options for facial expressions and poses, including pair figurines based on two-person photos, intended for commemorating milestones such as weddings or childhood growth.
