AI Agent adoption expands across Japanese business sectors

The integration of AI agents is accelerating across various Japanese industries, moving from simple task assistance to autonomous operational roles. In the manufacturing sector, Hitachi has developed a physical AI solution that links predictive maintenance with AI agents to diagnose equipment failures and suggest countermeasures, aiming to reduce reliance on skilled technicians.

In the financial sector, Kiyo Bank has implemented AI for recording meeting minutes and is testing AI avatars for sales role-playing to enhance employee training. Meanwhile, marketing firms like ADK Marketing Solutions and BrainPad are utilizing AI agents to conduct virtual interviews and surveys based on consumer data to accelerate hypothesis testing.

Corporate adoption trends show significant shifts. A survey of 200 entrepreneurs revealed that 77% use generative AI for business, primarily for brainstorming new business ideas and market research. In network operations, a Cisco report indicates that 51% of organizations now operate agentic AI that can execute actions in production environments. However, challenges remain regarding management and security; some reports highlight the risk of 'rogue' agents and the difficulty companies face in controlling agent permissions and visibility.
