Japan grid-scale battery market initiatives and webinars announced
Several organizations in Japan are launching initiatives to address the growing demand for grid-scale battery storage systems. Sustainable Holdings Co., Ltd. has scheduled a series of three seminars for November 2026 aimed at land developers and electrical contractors. These sessions will focus on the technical aspects of the ‘Raptor’ cabinet-type battery, including equipment configuration, installation advantages on irregular terrain, and participation in the primary adjustment power market.
In a separate announcement, Japan Branding Co., Ltd., the Japanese agent for GUS Technology, will host a webinar in mid-November 2026 to analyze market forecasts. The session will examine the gap between current capacity market bidding rates and the projected growth of energy storage capacity. According to International Energy Agency (IEA) estimates, global energy storage capacity could increase sixfold by 2050 under carbon-neutral scenarios, with batteries expected to account for over one-third of short-term adjustment power.
Additionally, Fuji Electric and the Japan Weather Association have announced a partnership focused on optimizing the operation of grid-scale batteries.
