Japan family spends 39,000 yen monthly on car used two days a week

A family residing in Japan reports spending approximately 39,000 yen (roughly 6.34 million VND) per month to maintain a car, despite using the vehicle only two days a week.

According to a woman identified as Momo, the vehicle is primarily used on weekends for activities such as grocery shopping, traveling with young children, and medical appointments. While the car remains stationary for five days a week, the family considers the expense necessary for the convenience and autonomy it provides compared to using public trains with small children.

Despite these costs, which account for about 5.5% of their monthly budget, the family maintains a strong financial position. With an average monthly income of approximately 1.12 million yen, they are able to save about 417,000 yen per month after basic expenses.
