Japan Football Association clears referees of improper hospitality allegations

The Japan Football Association (JFA) has concluded an investigation into allegations of improper hospitality involving Japanese referees in South Korea. The probe was launched following reports from South Korean media claiming that inappropriate entertainment was provided to foreign officials during international matches held between March 2011 and March 2012.

Working with an external law firm, the JFA conducted interviews with six of the seven Japanese referees identified in the reports, while the seventh was contacted via text. The investigation found no evidence of improper hospitality or any attempts to manipulate match results. The JFA stated it has completed its investigation but will revisit the matter if new facts emerge.
