Japan Football Association investigates unauthorized access to JFA Passport app
The Japan Football Association (JFA) has announced that its official app, ‘JFA Passport’, was subject to unauthorized access by a third party on October 17. The incident occurred between approximately 3:25 AM and 7:00 PM.
In response to the breach, the JFA collaborated with the app’s service provider to block the access route and prevent further damage. As a result, some services within the app have been temporarily suspended. The association is currently investigating the extent of the impact and whether any personal user information has been leaked.
The JFA stated that no impact has been confirmed on its other systems at this time. Users are advised to refrain from logging out, re-logging, or reinstalling the app for the time being to assist in stabilizing the service. The association has issued an apology to its users and pledged to take appropriate action in accordance with relevant laws if a data leak is confirmed.
