Japan Game Awards 2026: Future Category winners announced
Two video game titles have been recognized in the Future Category of the Japan Game Awards 2026. This category honors unreleased works showcased at the Tokyo Game Show 2026, selected through user voting and a committee review.
Capcom announced that ‘Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance’ received the award. The title is a major expansion for ‘Monster Hunter Wilds’ and is scheduled for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam. Players will require the base game and completion of specific mission quests to access the expansion.
Konami also announced that ‘Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse’ won the award. Developed in collaboration with Evil Empire and Motion Twin, the 2D action game is set in Paris in 1499. The game follows Rose Belmont and is scheduled for release on October 15.
