Japan gaming industry initiatives focus on IP creation and eSports science

Yano Research Institute has been commissioned by the Kinki Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry to conduct a research and demonstration project aimed at fostering a game development ecosystem in the Kinki region. The initiative seeks to create an environment where new game intellectual properties (IP) can be continuously produced. As part of this project, a public session will be held at the ‘OSAKA INDIE GAMES SUMMIT 2026’ on October 3, 2026, to discuss the relationship between players and creators.

Separately, the professional eSports club INSOMNIA will participate in the Tokyo Game Show 2026. The club will host an ‘INS x LAB’ talk session on September 17, 2026, featuring university researchers to discuss the scientific aspects of eSports, specifically focusing on how sleep and physical condition affect player performance. Additionally, a fan meeting featuring various division players is scheduled for September 19, 2026, at the CFD Sales booth.
