Japan high school sports and debate competitions update
Various high school sports competitions and academic activities took place in Japan during late August 2026.
In the autumn Kyoto Prefecture high school baseball tournament, Doshisha and Nantan advanced to the third round. Nantan secured a 5-4 victory, while Kyoto Kyoei Gakuen recorded a decisive win.
In debate competitions, students from Clark Memorial International High School participated in the Kansai regional tournament held at Omi Brotherhood High School in Shiga Prefecture. The team achieved a split decision in a close match against a strong opponent, and their captain was named one of the ‘Best Debaters’ of the tournament.
In table tennis, the Yachiyo Shoin Gakuen boys' team competed in the private school tournament. Following a 0-3 loss in the team competition against Tokai University Urayasu High School, the team focused on individual matches and preparing for upcoming autumn competitions.
