Japan hosts 2026 Fujitsu Sprint Challenge and AIRPORT-CRIT cycling events

The Fujitsu Athletics Club held its inaugural "Fujitsu Sprint Challenge 2026" on July 25 at Uvance and Doroki Stadium in Kawasaki. The two‑day event featured a 100‑metre record run open to participants of all ages, as well as athletics workshops led by Olympians such as Yuki Joseph Nakashima, hurdler Shuhei Ishikawa and Yumi Tanaka. Organisers highlighted the move of the club’s base from Chiba to Kawasaki and the strong community response, with many local residents taking part in the races and training sessions.

Separately, the AIRPORT‑CRIT 2026 FUKUI road‑cycling race is scheduled for October 24‑25 on the runway of Fukui Airport in Fukui Prefecture. Sanctioned by the Japan Business Cycle Federation, the event will host elite, women’s and masters categories alongside family‑friendly activities such as a “Bambino” race, a “Mama‑chari” cycling ride and a runway walking tour. Entry opens on August 1 and the public can attend free of charge. The race promises high‑speed competition with cyclists exceeding 60 km/h on the unique airport‑runway course.
